Our bodies are meant to move. When we aren’t physically active, all sorts of problems start to occur, including loss of muscle strength, fewer calories burned, reduced immune strength, increased inflammation, hormone imbalances, weakened bones, disruptions to metabolism, and more.
Sedentary lifestyles and a lack of physical activity are associated with negative health conditions such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes, depression, and anxiety. On the other hand, some of the benefits of being physically active include improved sleep, boosted mood, better blood-sugar control, and stronger bones and muscles.
There are a variety of ways to get the physical activity your body needs to be healthy, including doing yoga, walking, jogging, weightlifting, stretching, swimming, hiking, and playing sports.
