Enema

A cleansing enema is a process by which the colon is cleansed by injecting a water-based solution into the rectum for a short time. The body then releases the stool within a few minutes.

Commonly used enema solutions include:
• Castile soap – A mild soap added to saline solution to stimulate bowel movements.
• Glycerin – Stimulates the lining of the colon to create bowel movements.
• Sea salt – The use of sea salt in an enema is thought to reduce the transfer of water into and out of the colon.
• Coffee – A mixture of brewed coffee and water used to remove bile from the colon.
