Gallbladder

The gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ located in the upper right part of the abdomen, underneath the liver. Its main function is to store and concentrate bile, a digestive fluid produced by the liver that helps break down fats in the small intestine. When you eat, the gallbladder contracts and releases the bile into the small intestine through a tube called the common bile duct, where it mixes with food and aids in digestion.

In some cases, the gallbladder may need to be removed due to problems such as gallstones or chronic inflammation. However, most people are able to live a normal life without their gallbladder, as the liver can still produce enough bile to aid in digestion.
