Helplessness

Helplessness is an emotion experienced when we feel like we are out of options and unable to solve our problems.

While helplessness is a commonly experienced emotion, severe or extended periods of feeling helpless can lead to more serious health issues. Learned helplessness specifically, which happens when a person repeatedly experiences stressful situations that they are unable to control, can contribute to depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
