Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a type of gentle massage meant to encourage proper lymph drainage and function. MLD uses a specific amount of pressure with rhythmic movements to stimulate the natural peristalsis of the lymphatic system. With improved lymphatic movement, the improved function may also occur with fluid circulation, the immune system, the parasympathetic nervous system, and detoxification within the body.
