A therapeutic phlebotomy is a medical procedure in which a skin puncture is made with a need to extract blood from a patient’s vein, typically for lab testing.
Before a phlebotomy is begun, the red cell level in your blood will be checked from a small sample of blood. You will have your pulse and blood pressure checked.
