The urinary system, also known as the renal system, is responsible for removing waste products and excess water from the body. It consists of the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra.
The kidneys filter blood and remove waste products, such as urea and creatinine, which are then excreted in urine. The urine flows from the kidneys through the ureters to the bladder, where it is stored until it is eliminated through the urethra.
In addition to waste removal, the urinary system also plays a crucial role in regulating the body’s fluid and electrolyte balance, blood pressure, and red blood cell production.
