Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an alternative and complementary treatment based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), a system of healing that dates back over 2,000 years.

At the core of TCM is the notion that a type of life force, or energy, known as chi or qi (pronounced “chee”) flows through energy pathways (meridians) in the body. Each meridian corresponds to one organ, or group of organs, that governs particular bodily functions. Achieving the proper flow of chi is thought to create health and wellness.

To restore balance, an acupuncturist inserts very fine needles through the surface of the skin at points along the meridians, allowing the body’s natural healing mechanisms to take over.
